Block printing – lino cut

Winter boredom and an itch to do something “creative” has led me to try out block printing. So with trusty linoeum and knives – I’m trying to keep my fingers. The reverse image and textures are interesting. I’ve got some simple ideas to try out. There’s something interesting to me about looking at the shadow studies – thinking about the gradient shadows and then being forced by the lino cut to distill an image down to the important lines. Don’t know where this is going. But here’s a link of interest – http://www.moma.org/exhibitions/2002/brucke/index.html
